Hello Peter, my name is Davis Schrapel and I am the Administrator of
"HGWonline". Thank you for your interview on my german "Harry
Gregson-Williams" fan-page (http://www.harry-gregson-williams.de).
Let's start it! |
| HGWonline: |
How did you get to know "Harry" and how would you describe both your
friendship and collaborations? |
PeterDiStefano: |
A friend named "David Turin" told me to go see him
for work in film at "Hans Zimmers Studio" in "Santa Monica, CA". I showed
up with my guitar, my manager at the time got his number so we set up a
meeting time. He told me he liked "Porno For Pyros" and it started like
that. We jammed one night and decided to make a record together and he
helped me with my bills by giving me squeks in his films. |
| HGWonline: |
You've had many collaborations with "Harry" since 1999. For example
"Veronica Guerin" a "Spy Game", which are some of our favorite scores by
the way. What did you do on those scores on which you collaborated with "Harry"? Did you write some additional music or did you "just" perform the
guitar or something like that? |
PeterDiStefano: |
"Harry" is the composer of the melodies, I do noise
and screeching and riffs that he uses, but the themes are "Harry". I am on the contract for a few of the films for the cues. |
| HGWonline: |
Do
you know if there will ever be a score release of "Flushed Away" or
"Seraphim Falls"? |
PeterDiStefano: |
I don't know, sorry. |
| HGWonline: |
Is
a proper CD Release of "Déjà Vu" planned? |
PeterDiStefano: |
I think on "Hollywood Records", I am on the
"Macy
Grey" tune. |
| HGWonline: |
You and Harry worked together on the "Rambient" project.
I heard that your album release "So Many Worlds" was the first 5.1 audio
DVD ever - is that true? |
PeterDiStefano: |
It was the first 24bit 96k dvd from what I was told.
| HGWonline: |
Are there some other "Rambient" releases planned? |
PeterDiStefano: |
We will always do music together, I don't know if we
will call it "Rambient" again. |
| HGWonline: |
How do you see the future of film music? |
PeterDiStefano: |
Classical, dance, electronica rock. |
| HGWonline: |
What are your upcoming projects (with Harry)? |
PeterDiStefano: |
Live gigs with "Hybrid". |
| HGWonline: |
Recently, you worked with Harry on the score for "The Number 23", a film
starring Jim Carrey. How much work did you put into this project and what
exactly did you do on it? |
PeterDiStefano: |
I had a great time jamming with the musicians live,
I am on the contract for this film. |
| HGWonline: |
What is your favorites one of "Harrys" scores or are the any you like in
particular? |
PeterDiStefano: |
I love them all. |
| HGWonline: |
What music are you usually listening to? Are you listening to film music
some times? |
PeterDiStefano: |
"Hybrid" right now, I am going on tour with them for
this month. I will be back in April. |
| HGWonline: |
Could you imagine to write your own film scores one day?
PeterDiStefano: |
I have done some short films, I like what I do right
now, with "Harry", I do TV and short films alone and the big ones with
"Harry", he sees 100 parts at once, I see 24 at the most. I would do a
long film if it was right. |
| HGWonline: |
What could you tell us about "Harry"? |
PeterDiStefano: |
He is my best friend! |
| HGWonline: |
Thank you very much for your answers! "HGWonline" Admin Davis Schrapel
